Gallery I: Mortal Flora

My initial inspiration for "Mortal Flora" was my concern that the natural world is being manipulated and altered in worrisome, unpredictable ways. I constructed flowers that have been disturbed, either though direct human intervention (genetic engineering) or as a result of our environmental destructiveness (climate change, acid rain, carbon emissions, etc.)

Seven ( 7! ) flowers later, I realized a deeper, more authentic meaning. The work is about our inner nature and the strong, creative, wild forces that yearn to be felt and seen. What is hidden can no longer be concealed.

Both interpretations still hold. More will come.
